About Play

Play is the open innovation hub by Sky Deutschland. Our goal is to bring to life new and innovative ideas for the entertainment of tomorrow – together with you.

To apply you only need a great idea – Play will take care of the rest: You’ll have access to office and meeting spaces in our brand new hub in the middle of Munich, guidance from our Play mentor team – experienced and well-known innovators and founders – and technical support from our development team (including programming, development, and graphics) as needed.

Our vision is to work with you to develop your ideas into prototypes and then into products that shape the future of entertainment.

Our offer to you

We are Prototyping

You don‘t need to have a final business plan or a startup to enter Play. You just need an idea and the desire to share it with us.

There is no risk for you to join Play. Except for becoming intrigued by innovation and entrepreneurship.

You’ll be given up to 6 months time to develop a prototype and first version of the product. Our Play office is located in a modern office space in the heart of Munich.

So that you can maintain your focus on the project, we support your cost of living for the duration of the program with a compensation of 25.000€.

Successful founders, digital entrepreneurs, innovation gurus, visionaries. We connect you with experienced people to make sure you make the most out of your time at Play.

You can access all the capabilities that Sky offers as Europe‘s leading entertainment company.

You‘ve got the idea – we‘ve got the right team to support you as you implement it: Support from frontend-, backend- and app developers as well as product designers - whatever you need to succeed.

Only by making mistakes you can improve: yourself, the product and the team. Our coaches will guide you through the journey.

We mould our program and coaching to fit you and your needs – not the other way around.

There are three possibilities for ideas that successfully complete both Play phases:

  • A product is developed that completely fits us. In this case it can directly be launched as a new Sky product.

  • The product idea itself is great, though the underlying technology is not yet marketable enough for product launch. In this case, we will ensure that it undergoes further development through our Research & Development process.

  • The product has a convincing proof of concept and in addition shows a promising business plan, but it doesn’t directly fit us. In this case an independent startup can be founded with the support of Sky.
